BEHIND THE SCENES
workshops and coaching sessions
Here at Threepenny we believe that there's more to being dramatically dedicated than the next performance. We don't want to just work towards a production by learning lines and blocking - we really want our cast to understand their characters in-depth. We also want to help people who don't have as much stage experience to be the best that they possibly can and give them a good grasp of the basics. We want performers to go on stage confident that they have given it absolutely everything.

We plan to prepare our performers with workshops on basic stagecraft - it's amazing how much seasoned performers take for granted and how much they do automatically that might seem quite alien to somebody who's new to the stage.
We'd also like to go a bit more in-depth and work with some of the well-known acting techniques developed by Stanislavski and Chekhov - workshopping scenes and introducing the 'magic if'. We may also throw in a bit of Jerzy Grotowski to demonstrate the power of mime - and some grammelot for fun! |
Our vocal coach will also be on hand to ensure that in both singing and speaking our performers are never straining their voices. When we are performing a musical piece we will have vocal workshops using the Jo Estil technique allowing our performers to produce an excellent sound and feel comfortable with their vocal performance.
Performance through song will also be studied to ensure that singers use not just their voice, but their face, body and actions to convey the meaning of a piece to ensure that both the audience and the performer are getting everything possible from it. |
