Gillian robertson
Gillian has been involved, in some form or other, in all the 3-T productions to date. Her roles so far have included props manager, general backstage crew, prompt, set shifter, hairdresser, general cheerleader, and chief brussel sprout microwaver (under very challenging circumstances) for 3-T's first production of Elephants!
The role of Charlotte will mark Gillian's 4th on stage role with 3-T, and having prefiously been typecast as 'the comedy help'. is delighted to be allowed to switch her usual black and white uniform for great big fancy frocks and fabulous/outrageous wigs, with just a delicate touch of Venetian glass! In all seriousness, Gillian is actually a trained classical coloratura soprano and has sung many principal soprano roles with various societies and is often to be found singing as a soloist across central Scotland and beyond. Favourite roles include Antonia in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffman, and the title role in Princess Ida which she sung with Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society, and more recently with the Dunfermline G&S Society. Gillian is often also engaged to sing as a soloist with choirs across Scotland, and oratorio highlights include Verdi's Requiem, Handel's Messiah, and the Pie Jesu from Faure's Requiem at least a dozen times (or more). She was also given the opportunity to fulfil a long-held ambition by singing Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate for the wonderful St Andrew Camerata Choir. As a founder member of The National Youth Choir of Scotland (founded way back in the 1990s!), or NYCOS as it's more commonly known, Gillian has recently been enjoying taking part in the alumnus activities and reliving the experience of singing with a world-class choir! More recently, Gillian has taken on the role of President for the Edinburgh Gilbert and Sullivan Society (EDGAS) - something she is hugely passionate about, and hopes to see you all back at the Church Hill Theatre next april where EDGAS will be performing The Sorcerer. Gillian lives in Edinburgh with her husband Derek and beautiful puppy Penny (light of her life!). In her spare time, Gillian is a Technical Specialist in Business Analysis for the Financial Conduct Authority! - Biography taken from the programme for Cinderella (2024) |
